Solutions for air

Fabtech supplies turnkey cleanroom solutions for pharmaceutical plants, with 2000+ installations in 65+ countries. Most cleanroom projects fail where the parts meet.

The cleanroom itself is rarely the cause. One part is the air handling system that supplies the room. Others are the pass boxes in its walls and the isolators inside it. The last part is the paperwork. It must match all of these parts before a regulator will inspect the room.

Fabtech designs all of these parts and supplies them for the life sciences: pharma, biopharma and healthcare. There is a simple reason to buy all the parts from us.

We design the connections between them once. They do not have to be agreed on site between different suppliers.

Turnkey cleanrooms

A turnkey cleanroom means one contract for the whole job.

It covers the design, the room itself, the air system and the equipment inside the room. It also covers the qualification, which is the testing that proves the room is ready for use.

Without a turnkey contract you deal with four suppliers: a general contractor, a panel supplier, an HVAC contractor and an equipment vendor. You are in the middle, and you must make their schedules fit together.

What one contract changes for you:

  • The pressure cascade is designed once. A pressure cascade sets the air pressure in each room so that air flows in the right direction between rooms. We design it for the rooms, airlocks, pass boxes and isolators together. It is classified to ISO 14644 as one scheme, not four.
  • Qualification is one document set. The DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ tests are checked against one specification that you approve. You do not have to compare the protocols of four vendors.
  • One company is responsible. If the room does not hold its pressure differential at three in the morning, you call one company.

This is the cleanroom work we do most: pharmaceutical cleanroom turnkey, modular cleanroom turnkey and turnkey cleanroom HVAC. The cleanroom is one part of a full plant.

Our turnkey pharmaceutical projects page covers the wider plant scope. We also do cleanroom and HVAC work inside hospitals.

See hospital cleanrooms. Fabtech designed and built the operation theatres for Burjeel Hospital in the UAE.

Three projects show the size of this work. In the Amneal project in the USA, our scope was 21,648 square metres of panels, 14,439 square metres of ceilings, 388 doors, dedusting and light fixtures.

At Geltec Pharmacare in Dubai, our scope was 12,869 square metres of modular cleanroom, the HVAC, the electrical work, a sampling booth, a dispensing booth and a biosafety cabinet.

At CPCM in Algeria, the cleanroom equipment was a turnkey project. It covered 2,712 square metres of modular panels, the HVAC, the electrical work and the utility piping.

Buyers who search for a cleanroom manufacturer, or for cleanroom manufacturing companies, want one company that takes responsibility for the room. Fabtech makes its own cleanroom panels, designs and supplies the air system and the equipment, and stays responsible for the whole room.

The built environment

This group covers the modular cleanroom, the bio-cleanroom, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and internal infrastructure.

Aseptic containment

Aseptic containment keeps germs and dust away from a sterile product.

We design and supply custom ISO Class 5 solutions for critical operations. ISO Class 5 is a very high level of air cleanliness.

Our pharmaceutical isolators page shows the full range and how to choose between them.

Non-aseptic containment

This is isolation and containment for process, packaging and QC/QA (quality control and quality assurance).

Clean-air equipment

This group covers air and contained sterilisation, sterilisation tunnels and other equipment.

Why plants choose Fabtech

  • One source. You get everything for clean air and containment from one engineering company. We also supply water and process systems.
  • Dependable. We do the design and the project management ourselves, and we stay responsible for the equipment we supply. You do not have to manage many companies.
  • Ingenious. Our designers and engineers start from your process. They do not start from a catalogue.
  • Compliant. We build to pass inspection by the USFDA (United States), MHRA (United Kingdom) and TGA (Australia).
  • Proven. Fabtech has 2000+ installations in 65+ countries.
  • End to end. We handle every step from start to finish. We work to the shortest lead time we can commit to.

FAQ

How does a cleanroom work?

It holds a pressure differential against the space around it. This means its air pressure is different from the air pressure outside. It also removes contamination at the source. This needs HEPA filtration, non-particulate materials (materials that do not shed particles), airlocks and cleanroom discipline.

What are modular cleanrooms?

They are prefabricated cleanroom systems that you can customise. They can be put together, taken apart and set up again in a new layout. They suit pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and healthcare.

Can I redesign my cleanroom if my classifications change?

Yes. With a modular system, this is usually cheaper and faster than building a new cleanroom. This is the main reason to choose modular.

How does classification affect my budget?

It has a large effect. A higher classification needs stricter controls, more equipment and higher air change rates. This raises the cost to build the cleanroom and the cost to run it.

How often should a cleanroom be inspected?

Do routine inspection at least monthly. Do a deeper inspection and certification once a year, or as often as your regulations require.

What are the steps in designing a cleanroom?

First, understand what you need. Then assess the size and layout. Select the materials. Design the personnel and material flow, which is how people and materials move through the rooms. Work to the standard that applies in your market.

What are the key features of Fabtech's aseptic containment?

The range runs from sterility testing to potent API handling. The work zones are ISO Class 5. The designs are custom and built in modules. They can be joined to a facility you already run.

How do I choose the right aseptic containment system?

First, find which process steps need containment. Assess the space. Check that the system meets the guidelines you are inspected against. Check that it works with the equipment you already run. Then choose a system that can adapt when the product changes.

Why choose Fabtech for isolation and containment?

Because we design the containment and the room it stands in together. A common and expensive problem is a unit that meets its specification on its own but fails in the room where it is installed. We design high-precision containment for pharmaceutical and biopharma facilities from start to finish, to your facility's needs and your budget.

Do you build cleanrooms for biopharma?

Yes. Biopharma cleanrooms follow the same classification rules as any other cleanroom. They need more care in keeping products separate and in single-use handling. Modular cleanroom systems suit biopharma very well. This is because a biologics facility changes product more often than an oral solids plant does.

Do you offer cleanroom consulting, or only construction?

Both. Most projects start with consulting about classification and flow, before anything is built. The big cost decisions are made in pharmaceutical engineering consulting.

Which countries does Fabtech work in?

Fabtech has 2000+ installations in 65+ countries. It works for international buyers. Its cleanroom projects include work in the USA, the UAE and Algeria.
