CPCM

CPCM has a pharmaceutical facility in Algeria. CPCM is also known as Laboratoire CPCM Pharma.

Fabtech gave consultancy for the tablet and capsule section of the plant, and supplied 2,712 square metres of modular cleanroom panels.

The scope also included ceiling panels, doors, HVAC, electrical work, epoxy flooring, utility piping and a fire hydrant system. HVAC means heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Each item is explained in the next section.

The cleanroom equipment was supplied as a turnkey project. In a turnkey project, one company designs, supplies, installs and tests the plant under one contract.

Work done: consultancy and engineering, modular cleanroom panels, cleanroom HVAC.

An introduction that came from Algeria

A person we had worked with on a project in Algeria later introduced Fabtech to Sudair Pharma in Saudi Arabia.Fabtech then delivered a turnkey project for the oncology facility of Sudair Pharma.

How the CPCM cleanroom was fitted out

At CPCM, Fabtech's scope covered the advice, the room and the services that run through the room.

  1. Consultancy for the tablet and capsule section

The first picture is a drawing of the plant. Fabtech gave consultancy for the tablet and capsule section.

Consultancy is engineering advice given before building starts, for example on the layout of the rooms.

  2. Panel walls and ceiling

The walls of the cleanroom are modular panels. They are made in a factory and joined on site, so the surfaces are smooth and easy to clean.

Fabtech makes its own cleanroom panels. The scope for CPCM lists ceiling panels as well.

  3. Doors

Doors are set into the panel walls. The scope lists three kinds: single doors, double doors and emergency doors.

A double door lets large equipment and trolleys pass. An emergency door gives people a way out of the clean area.

  4. Epoxy floor

The floor is coated with epoxy, a resin that is laid over the concrete. It has no joints, so there are no gaps where dust can collect.

The scope also lists 15 stainless steel drain traps. A drain trap is the fitting at a floor drain, and it holds a little water that stops air from the drain entering the room.

  5. HVAC

Air now enters the room through the HVAC system. The system supplies filtered air and controls the temperature, the humidity and the air pressure of each room.

HVAC was part of Fabtech's scope at CPCM.

  6. Electrical work

Power and light reach the room through the electrical work. Electrical work means the power supply, the cables and the lighting of a plant.

It was part of Fabtech's scope at CPCM.

  7. Utility piping

Pipes carry the utilities to the rooms where they are used. Utilities are the services that a plant needs for production, such as water, steam and compressed air.

Utility piping was part of Fabtech's scope at CPCM.

  8. Fire hydrant system

Outlets for fire hoses are the last item. A fire hydrant system is a network of water pipes with outlets for fire hoses.

Fabtech's scope at CPCM included one.

How a project in Algeria runs

At CPCM, the scope ran from consultancy to panels, HVAC and utility piping.

A full project runs in this order.

First we design the plant with you. This is the work of our pharmaceutical engineering services, and at CPCM it was consultancy for the tablet and capsule section.

Then we supply the panels and the equipment. For CPCM we supplied the wall panels, the ceiling panels and the doors.

We install the systems and commission them. Commissioning means starting each system and checking that it runs.

Qualification is the next stage, and it means the written tests and records that prove the plant works as designed. The four stages are design, installation, operational and performance qualification, and engineers call them DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ.

Our equipment qualification page explains each stage.

Last, we hand over the plant and its records.

One contract can cover all of this work. That is a turnkey pharmaceutical project.

Fabtech builds GMP and WHO compliant facilities. GMP means good manufacturing practice, the rules a medicine plant must follow.

WHO is the World Health Organization.
