Fabtech in Africa

This section describes projects of this type in general. It does not describe what was delivered at this facility.

Fabtech's published portfolio in Africa includes this plant.

A long corridor with pale green walls, ceiling lights, a glossy floor and blue doors at the far end. Zenufa, Tanzania.

In East Africa, it also includes Lab & Allied in Kenya. In Nigeria, it includes Ranbaxy, Pharmatex and Me-Cure Healthcare.

There is also the Fidson Healthcare turnkey project in Nigeria. The portfolio also includes NVI in Ethiopia, Ghoneim in Egypt and Sanofi in Egypt.

In southern Africa, it includes Be-Tabs and Datlabs. The whole list, country by country, is on the page for pharmaceutical projects in Africa.

A plant in East Africa is usually built to make medicines for its own country or for nearby countries. A national regulator controls this work.

Some medicines are bought through donor-funded procurement, which means donors pay for them. For these products, the plant usually aims for World Health Organization prequalification.

WHO prequalification means the WHO has checked a medicine and found that it meets its quality rules.

More than anything else, this target sets the cleanroom classification. That is how clean the air in each room must be.

The cleanroom systems and the HVAC must hold that classification. HVAC means heating, ventilation and air conditioning.

Settle this target first, before work starts on the plant layout.
