Sanofi, Saudi Arabia

Fabtech Technologies has worked on the Sanofi pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. This site lists it with our delivered projects, next to the Sanofi facility in Egypt.

Looking for Sanofi itself? This is the website of Fabtech Technologies, not Sanofi. We are an engineering company that has worked on the plant. We cannot help you contact Sanofi.

Building pharmaceutical plants in Saudi Arabia

This section describes projects of this type in general. It does not describe what was delivered at this facility.

For a decade, Saudi Arabia has been building its own capacity to make medicines.

The projects there usually follow the same pattern. The plant is new.

The schedule is tight, because it is tied to a licensing or localisation commitment. The plant is specified for export as well as for the home market.

This changes the engineering in clear ways. Because of the local climate, dehumidification (removing moisture from the air) is a basic design condition.

It is planned into the design from the start, for every season of the year. It decides the choice of cleanroom HVAC.

Airflow comes after that.

The electricity supply runs at 60 Hz. So pumps, motors and drives are specified for 60 Hz from the start.

They are not adapted later. The qualification documents (the records that prove the plant works as designed) are prepared in the format the Saudi FDA expects.

This is part of the project scope. It is not a formality.

Getting people and equipment to the site is a separate problem. It is usually the one that decides if the project stays on time.

Fabtech in Saudi Arabia

The named Saudi project published on this site is Sudair Pharma. It is a turnkey pharmaceutical plant.

Turnkey means one company takes charge of the whole plant, from design to handover. The Sudair Pharma plant manager describes our work on the projects portfolio page:

Despite the harsh weather conditions, different living culture, logistics and visa challenges, Fabtech stuck with the agreed plans and timelines.
