A stalled multi-million dollar project makes an incredible transformation with a little help from Fabtech.
The dream was to deliver six different dosage lines in Tablets, Capsules, Liquids, Dry Powder, Creams & Ointments and Parenteral Infusions. An ultra-modern facility with high-tech machinery in compliance with global standards and WHO certification at Sango Otta, Ogun State Nigeria to meet the needs of Nigerian and West African markets. This facility would also consolidate Fidson’s leadership position in the Nigerian pharma industry and place them on the world stage.
But Fidson was in trouble. Work on their flagship state-of-the-art $40 million plant had ground to a complete halt. Their contractor’s inability to mobilise the right resources in unchartered territory resulted in the project being stalled for over 18 months.
The $6.5 million contract included the design, engineering, supply, installation, validation and commissioning of
– Modular cleanroom infrastructure, 150 units of HVAC, cooling and dehumidifying systems
– Piping and connection of all utilities for steam, air, compressed natural gas, diesel etc
– Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems
– High purity water treatment plant
– Fire prevention and safety equipment
– A best-in-class laboratory and R&D centre
And it seemed like it would never see the light of day.
Until Fabtech was invited to step in and take over the project. We deployed our projects planning, execution and management team and commissioned the entire project to scope in 15 months. The factory, now the largest pharma facility, in Nigeria and West Africa has been up and running for 19 months without malfunctions. Several visitors from global regulatory, private and public enterprise have also attested to its world-class standards.
The facility manufactures large-scale pharmaceutical products to meet the healthcare needs of Nigerians as well as West African markets. Together Fidson and Fabtech are saving lives by making affordable medicines accessible to those who need them.
